Hospital Bed Rest

I just talked to my OB this morning and it’s official, she’s keeping me here in the hospital until my scheduled c-section on July 18th which is exactly 4 weeks from now. The past week wasn’t easy and I know the next few weeks won’t be either but I’m taking it one day at a time. I’m just trying to get into the mentality that I will probably never ever get the chance to read and blog as much or sleep (or at least try to) as during the bed rest. Most importantly, every day I spend in the hospital pregnant is 2 days less my baby will be spending in the NICU. Disappointment and worries won’t change what is going to happen so I’m just focusing on positive thoughts knowing this is what’s best for me and my baby and that God is constantly watching over me and my family. Placenta Previa Bleeding Episode

Last Sunday was nothing out of the ordinary. We took our weekly pregnancy picture, went out to run some errands and stayed home for the rest of the evening.

After reading a couple Thomas the Train books to Jordan, we both fell asleep. I woke up around 10:00 pm because I needed to use the bathroom and as soon as I sat down the toilet, I heard a pop and felt a gush. I remember saying “please don’t be blood” while I was reaching for the toilet paper but there it was, bright red blood. It was so scary to say the least.  Per my OB’s instructions about what to do in this situation, Michael just grabbed our bag and went straight to the hospital.

I was admitted and monitored.  My OB came and ordered steroid injections to help mature the baby’s lungs.  I am only 33 weeks so we were very nervous. I was literally shaking and started crying because I thought I might have an emergency c-section. Thankfully, the bleeding slowed and stopped.  However at 2:00 in the morning, I had another bleed and it was a lot more. I was leaking like a faucet and I was starting to have contractions. I was given a shot to stop the contractions and thankfully, the bleeding slowed down and stopped again. More

Wordless Wednesday: 30 Weeks Pregnant

Mentally Preparing for a C-Section

I was diagnosed with placenta previa at 19 weeks and I had another ultrasound at 25 weeks and the placenta hadn’t moved. The ultrasound tech said that though it would unlikely move, she’s seen it happen at the last minute so there’s still hope. We’re going to do a repeat scan around 29 weeks to see if my placenta is migrating upward or staying in the same position. If it hasn’t moved, then we will scan again around 33 and 35 weeks and then schedule a c-section if it stays the same. More

Placenta Previa @ 19 Weeks

Last week, my doctor told me I have placenta previa based on my structural routine ultrasound. This means the placenta attaches and grows to cover the opening of the cervix.

There is a small chance that as my uterus grows during the pregnancy, it will pull the placenta up into the position it needs to be in. However, if it does not move during pregnancy, it would obviously eliminate the possibility of a normal birth, as the placenta would either block the baby from getting out or the placenta would come out first, which could cause life-threatening bleeding for me and my baby. Needless to say, I will need a c-section to bring my baby into the world. Though c-section was never my vision of birth, I can come to terms with it as long as my baby’s okay, I’ll do whatever needs to be done. More

The Gift of Life

They say that birthdays give us the opportunities to stop and appreciate all the beautiful things we have been blessed with and I’m very fortunate to literally see the most precious blessings I have on my birthday.

When I was pregnant with Jordan, we first saw him on my birthday and today, on my 31st birthday, we had the first glimpse of our second child. More

17 Weeks Pregnant

This was just going to be a Wordless Wednesday post but I’d have to say that at 17 weeks pregnant, I feel so much heavier this week and lots of people have been making comments that I was getting bigger!  I remember I was barely showing at 17 weeks preggo with Jordan.

Also over the last week I have been feeling the baby move. They are just those tiny flutters but I’m so excited knowing that I’ll feel Jelly Belly move a lot more soon!  I can’t wait until Michael & Jordan can feel those movements too!

True Happy Surprises In Life

When I was pregnant with Jordan, I remember the disappointment in people’s faces when Michael and I tells them that we won’t find out the gender until the baby’s born. Many of our friends and relatives were shocked and in full panic asked what clothes should they get for the shower? Most of them think that it’s ridiculous not to find out the gender because they think that we need to prepare for the nursery, clothes, etc.

So Jordan’s gender was a surprise and we loved it! This whole conception and pregnancy is one of the greatest mysteries and a miracle of life and we feel like finding out the gender of your baby on the delivery date is part of the whole package. We also feel that there really are so few true happy surprises in life that we should savour each one of them! So when Jordan came out, the Dr. flipped him over and Michael cried it’s a boy! Needless to say, it was one of the greatest surprises of our lives.

As for decorating and buying items, we never have really decorated in a gender related way. We’ve always just been into bright and cheery colors for the bedrooms and such. With the clothes, because babies grow so quickly and everyone loves to give clothes as gifts, we bought whites with some yellows and greens. After the Small Fry arrived, it was fun taking him to get clothes especially for him in whatever colors we found were cute, and what actually fit because he grow and change sizes so rapidly!

Like what you’ve already guessed, we are keeping the gender of our Small Fry #2  as a surprise as well. We  think that finding out is cheating – kind of like unwrapping your Christmas present way before Christmas. However, we are definitely not against anyone who wants to and does find out the gender of their babies. We just personally think that it’s so amazing to wait.

So the old-age question remains… did you find out the gender of your baby? And if you’re expecting, are you going to? :)

Pregnancy Posts Hiding Under Private Settings

We have announced it on facebook, sent our pregnancy announcement to family and friends and now, it’s time to let my blog readers know that… WE’RE PREGNANT!

Here are the links to a few posts that I wrote when we weren’t ready to announce the pregnancy yet:

11-15-10: I Peed on a Stick and Got Two Pink Lines… Again!
12-19-10: Wordless Wed: We Are Expanding Our Home Two More Feet!

Expanding at Light Speed!

I am almost 9 weeks pregnant and I am showing so much faster than I did when I was preggers with Jordan. I know that you usually show faster with the second one but I didn’t think it was this fast. I have already grown into a new bra size and my pants are snug so I finally pulled all my maternity pants out last night.

This time around is a completely different ball game but I hope that this is not a peek into how the rest of my pregnancy will go. Does it level out or will I continuously blow up?
