Mommy SOS: The Picky Eater Stage

My now almost 2-year old used to eat anything but for the past week or so, it seems like he became an extremely picky eater. All he wants is milk, junk foods, and some fruits (thank God). He eats a couple bites at every meal and that’s about it.  Most of his food would end up splattering the high-chair and the floor. If I try to feed him, he would just say “NO” while pushing away my hand.

I know that picky eating is very common at this stage and according to his pediatrician, it’s developmentally normal. As growth slows down, children eat leass because they need less. However, as a parent, it’s hard not to get alarmed when your child suddenly slam on the brakes and refuse to eat his once favorite foods.

I have tried everything to get him to try other things and it hasnt worked. Anybody else  has gone or going through this? Any creative deas on how to handle this stage?

Mom SOS: Sleep Regression (Again?!!) at 20 Months?

Three months ago, my Small Fry had some kind of sleep regression for about a week and went back to his normal sleeping routine so mommy’s happy. However, for the past 2 and a half weeks, his sleeping schedule is out of whack again. I don’t know if it’s because we weaned him from his binky about a week before I was hospitalized or if it’s because his daddy and I aren’t home? He used to be asleep by 8:30 pm but now stays up as late as 10:00 pm and is refusing his nap! More

Mom SOS: Britax Chaperone or Chicco Keyfit 30 Infant Car Seat?

I’ve always had my heart set on the Britax Chaperone  because I love the no re-thread harness and I like the idea of the rebound bar and the extra head wings as an added side-impact protection. However, as I was reading more car seat safety research, the Chicco KeyFit 30 also always came in the top 3 for safety and ease of use. Moms rave about its ease of installation and they say that it’s lightweight.

So now I’m debating between the two. They are both rated really high for safety but the Britax just looks more safe - has more foam padding and has the extra safety bar that other car seats don’t. However, it’s heavy and because of the rebound bar, the base is really huge and I hear people complain that it doesn’t fit well in all cars and SUVs.

Any thoughts on which one is better and why? Any issues with either? If you have any experience with either one please let me know.

Mom SOS: Sleep Regression/Growth Spurt at 17-18 months?

After everything we’ve been through during the first 12 months, I thought the sleep Gods granted us mercy because our little one fell into a great, predictable sleep pattern that works for everyone… that until a few days ago.

The Small Fry is definitely going through some sort of phase at the moment where he stays up an hour or so later and then he cries and shrieks at bedtime.  He’s not really drooling much, so he can’t be actively cutting a tooth and I’m actually starting to think that possibly this is some kind of crazy growth spurt?

Anyone dealt with sleep regression/growth spurt around 17-18 months of age? What can I expect? How long will this last? Is it common? Any strategies?

Mommy SOS: Double Stroller Recommendation?

Now that I’m going to be a mom to two under 2, I’m in the market for a double stroller.  Can anyone give good recommendations?  I want something durable, easy to push, high weight limit, etc.  I’m particularly concerned about functionality, great quality and something that will last me some years.

As soon as hubby and I started talking about the Small Fry #2, I started looking at double stroller option. Since I don’t like the side-by-side stroller because they’re too wide, I looked at different in-line strollers. At first, I really liked the Phil and Ted’s Explorer. We tested it at the store and we even almost bought it! More

Mommy SOS: Bath Time Struggle!

My almost 12-month old son has developed a new habit at bath time: Standing and climbing out of the bathtub! I don’t know why he has suddenly become enthralled with the idea but in the last week or so, he decided that he only want to stand up in the tub.  More
