Art Wall for Kids
Oh happy day! I finally did it! I finally finished the boys’ art gallery wall that I have been wanting to do for a couple years now. It was on my to-do list since Jordan’s first artwork from when he was only 8 months old & was still in daycare.
I remembered it again while I was shopping at The Land of Nod last weekend and saw their girly art clips for $15. I knew that it was about time to get this project checked off my mile long to-do list. So I went to our local craft store and bought a cheap black string and few wooden cut-outs. I didn’t need to buy the wooden clothespin because I have a bunch sitting in my laudry room. I used the wooden cut-outs as accents and to hide the nails that holds the string on each end. I spent less than $5 by making it myself. As for the words, I initially thought of painting the wall but I knew Michael wasn’t going to like it so I just used vinyl letters instead.
Next on my list is a chalk board wall. I’m thinking of turning the bottom half of that wall into a chalk board. I already found the supplies – I just need to make up my mind whether I want it to be that permanent or if I should just use a huge frame. What do you guys think?

I’d go with frame. Personally we finally decided against a chalkboard or dry erase wall because we are fairly certain our toddler won’t distinguish between the wall she can draw on and all the rest of the walls that she can’t draw on.

I love the font on the vinyl letters. What a great idea! I also like the idea of a chalkboard wall, although I’m guessing there would need to be some sort of tray that would catch the chalk dust…?

We just bought some dust-free chalks but we haven’t tried them yet so I’m hoping that would work for our chalk board wall.
