The Small Fry #2 is Here!
I’m happy to say that my 5+ week long hospital bed rest has finally come to an end and I’m truly thankful to God for blessing us with another healthy baby boy!
The night before my c-section, I couldn’t sleep from excitement. Michael was thrilled at the idea of getting to hold our little baby the next day, and I was thrilled at the idea of my hospital bed rest ending. I swear, I barely slept. I just kept tossing and turning in bed, looking at the clock. And it was finally time! They let me walk to the operating room and when we got there, they started the spinal block. My legs got heavy quickly and I felt numb almost instantly. Michael was right by my side, holding my hand. I was nervous. I was excited. I was finally going to see my little Jelly B!
However, when Gillian (my nurse) started shaving the area of where they’re going to make the incision, I felt it and I knew something wasn’t right. The doctors pinched my stomach and asked me if I felt anything and I didn’t. But when she started cutting, I felt sharp pain! I literally said “OUCH!” She immediately stopped and tilted the bed so my feet were up to try to have the anesthesia go down my stomach. They waited a few minutes and tried again to no avail – I still felt pain. As soon as my doctor looked at me in the eye, I knew right away what she was going to say. They had to put me under. I was disappointed that I won’t witness the birth of my baby but I had no choice. Michael kissed me, told me he loves me and stepped out of the O.R. They put a mask over my face and the last thing I remember was my doctor telling me that I’m going to meet my baby soon.
Thankfully, everything went great. I was still in the O.R. when I woke up. Though everything was a blur, I remember asking whether I had a girl or boy and if my baby was healthy. Michael came to the O.R. holding our precious baby boy so that I could meet him and kiss him before they wheeled me down to the recovery room. After spending about 45 minutes in the recovery room (according to Michael as I felt heavily medicated & sleepy), I was back in my room with my newborn.
Luckily for me, recovering from my c-section was a breeze. I felt great. I was up and out within just a few days. My doctor did an awesome job with the stitches – I could barely notice it and I couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out. I truly Thank God for this not so easy yet wonderful journey…

Hi Joy. Thanks for checking out my blog. That’s too sweet of you. I just saw your link on my stats. I have you in my link roll btw. I’m hoping it goes in a positive direction. But either way, it’s really good to touch base with people who’ve gone through it and emotions. I have 6-8 more weeks until the next u/s so I’m hoping for the best. <3

Hi May! I read your blog and it’s good that you have the list of questions to ask you OB. You’re only 18 weeks and there’s still plenty of time for your placenta previa to fix itself and I’ll be praying it will. Take care & keep us all posted! :)

So precious! Congratulations again to you all. Wow, I had no idea that you had to go through that! My OB-GYN opted to put me under as well. I guess it’s a small price to pay, at least our babies were delivered safely and that’s all that matters in the end. Happy to hear you are recovering quickly and well! Hugs and kisses. <3
