A {late} Father’s Day Post

Fathers are often overlooked, with so much (well deserved of course) attention given to the fabulous mothers of the world so this post is dedicated to my amazing husband.

My dad was my rock growing up, and he still is. I don’t know where or who I would be without him in my life and I want the Small Fry to grow up feeling the same way about his dad because like me, he’s also blessed with an amazing father.

Michael has been a hands-on father since the Small Fry was born. He helps out around the house more than I could ever ask for. I look at some of my friends and their situations and I feel bad with the tiny amounts of help they receive from their spouses. I’m glad that I roll my eyes at Michael’s silly ideas about the Small Fry and not at how out of touch dad he is.

Most people I know constantly says how lucky I am to have Michael who actually help parent. Do I feel lucky? Absolutely! Because Michael is an awesome husband and father to the small fry. Sure, there are times when I feel like I do everything, but in reality, it’s 50/50. We do everything equally.

The other night, I wasn’t feeling well so as soon as the small fry went to sleep, I slept too and I left a big mess in the kitchen. The next morning, our conversation went like this:

Me: Thanks for cleaning up last night and preparing Jordan’s stuff for daycare
Him: You’re welcome
Me: But we have to bring frozen baby food to daycare since you didn’t put it  in the fridge from the freezer last night
Him: I went to sleep at 2am, cut me some slack.

And the conversation ended with us laughing…
