Our Photo Christmas Cards Holiday Tradition
I finally finished addressing our Christmas cards last night. As you all know, I take my card seriously, designing and printing it myself. However for this year, I just ended up ordering a card off of Shutterfly but I have to admit, I am so happy the way it turned out!
I was so behind schedule with my Christmas cards this year because we couldn’t get a good family picture. It’s harder and harder to take picture with Jordan now that he’s 14 months old. He just won’t stay still and always wanted to grab the camera! Yet in the end, after only 50 or so attempts, we finally snapped what is to be our 2010 Christmas photo card. It actually came out quite cute, though you could see that the Small Fry is starting to get annoyed.
After Christmas, I always recycle my Christmas cards. I save all the picture cards and leave them hanging up for quite awhile. I also try to repurpose the non-picture cards to use as gift tags for the next year. I just cut out whatever the main picture or design is, and when I need a gift tag, I just find one that looks good with the paper, use a hole punch to thread the ribbon through.
Photo Christmas cards are truly the most unique of all holiday cards. You just can’t get more personal than showing a photo on the front of your greeting cards. There is a timelessness to it and it imprints in my mind like nothing else can.

Cherry: You can get this Christmas card holder on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000XSXZOW?ie=UTF8&tag=thsmfr-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B000XSXZOW). Pottery Barn used to sell those but I haven’t seen them in a while.
You can also make your own if you want. A few years ago, I made a Christmas card holder using red yarn, wooden clothes pin and decorative paper. I’ll take a picture and I think I’ll write a tutorial on that. Hope that helps!

Your card turned out great! Love the picture!
A few years ago I started a scrapbook with all the Photo Christmas cards I receive. It’s fun to look back and see how the families have grown and changed :o) I turn other cards into tags for the next years Christmas presents. My father even uses the stamped portion of envelopes for tags, which is fun. :o)
