Similac Formula Recall
To my fellow mommies, if you’re feeding your baby with Similac formula, then it’s time to stop!
Abbott Nutrition is issuing a voluntary recall of certain Similac powder infant formulas. Apparently, there is a remote possibility of the presence of a small common beetle in the product produced in a single manufacturing facility in Michigan.
The recall includes certain Similac powder infant formula sold in plastic containers and in 8-ounce sample cans, and 12.4-ounce and 12.9-ounce cans.
To find out if your formula is involved, go to http://similac.com/recall/lookup and type in the lot number. And of course, when I tried to go to the site, it took awhile to load then it crashed!
So if you can’t go to the site, Abbott has also set up a hotline at (800) 986-8850.

That is really great that Costco does that. Just another reason for me to get a membership. Super happy I haven’t bought any formula for my little man yet!!

I just got a phone call from Costco telling me that I purchased this recalled item ( I didnt know that Costco would call individuals and inform them)…This recall is bit late though… Jaxon has stopped drinking formula since March 2010. But I’m relieved that companies are willing to contact consumers if they purchased the item from their store.
Costco did say that there is no real immediate health risk but can cause stomach problems and result of the child not having an appetite…

That’s great that Jax didn’t have to drink contaminated formula and props to Costco for calling individual customers who bought the recalled item! :)

Yeah, I heard about this from another blogger too. What’s up with these companies issuing recalls left and right? Why can’t they monitor and control the quality of their products BEFORE they get sent out for retail?

I know! It’s pretty sad that things like this happens. Remember the baby food recall because of lead contamination a few months ago?
