When It Rains It Pours But When Blessings Come They Overflow
I haven’t written in a while because I’m a working mom who’s not quite succeeding at the juggling act these days. Even with a flexible schedule and the help of an amazingly involved and supportive husband, I still find myself torn in a dozen directions at any given moment.
My Small Fry started day care 4 months ago and has pretty much been sick ever since. Before he started daycare he was not sick once. Granted, he only had very minimal exposure to other children, so I pretty much expected him to get sick at daycare (but not this much!). Well, he got a cold right away – no big deal but then he’s got several ear infections and a bout of pneumonia too! Honestly, the past few months was really rough with him being sick all the time but his Pediatrician told us to look at the positive side which is him building his immune system.
So lately, I have been pushing back deadlines and making more “I’m sorry I can’t make it to work” calls than I have in my entire career. Fortunately though, my employer is very flexible and very
supportive of the “family comes first” train of thought.
When it rains it pours. You know that cliche. And I know we all feel like that at points in our lives… but when the blessings come they overflow! My parents are moving in with us from the Philippines in a couple weeks so we won’t have to worry about day care anymore because they will take care of the Small Fry. I think both My husband and I were lucky to grow-up with our grandparents around and we both look back to that time fondly. Thus, we know that with my parents being around, Jordan would benefit from having the unconditional love the grandparents can provide.
As we finished the latest round of antibiotics, the Small Fry has been doing so much better! He is eating better, sleeping better and just being such a happy and playful baby all around. I’m happy to say that We are all back on track and are so excited and busy planning his birthday party! :)

I grew up just down the county road from my grandparents and had that awesome bond too. When life fell apart at the end of my 3rd grade year, they were to take us in. We lived there a year and I have nothing but fond memories of my time in their house. I wish you all the best of luck in making this fabulous transition!

So happy for you guys – especially Jordan! I have never experienced being taken care of grandparents (or had any ‘real’ close relationship with them) and I sometimes feel like I lost out on that. Your parents must be excited to come take care of their grandson too! Win-win situation all around. :)
