Polka Dot Overload: Jordan’s 1st Birthday
Last Friday, our Small Fry hit the big 1 YEAR OLD mark! I honestly can’t believe how fast this past year has gone by. I still remember so clearly the day that I gave birth to him and it was truly one of the happiest days of my life. Jordan has been such a blessing in our family and he brings us so much joy each and every single day. We honestly can’t get enough of him and his silly little self! It’s been so much fun watching him grow and learn new things. He is such a happy baby with a constant smile on his face.
When the clock stroke out at midnight, Michael and I kissed our sleeping little guy for his first birthday. We did it gently and carefully, with such warmth in our chest and a tearful eye. So there, we laid right next to him as we reminisced his birth and talked about how blessed we are!
Since we’re going to have a big party for him next week, we planned an intimate birthday celebration at home - just us and his grandparents. As much as I wanted to bake a cake, I didn’t have time because I’ve been so busy preparing for his party for next week. I ended up just ordering a cake for him, but I asked for it to be left completely plain with just chocolate and fudge frosting because I just knew I wanted to somehow decorate it myself. I added blue fondant circles to match the brown and blue polka dots birthday theme!
We sang “Happy Birthday” to him and then mommy helped him blow out the candle just before he grabbed the fire on top.
We wondered how he would take to the cake smashing eating, since he missed his afternoon nap (he was getting a little cranky) and he doesn’t really like getting sticky/gooey foods on his hands. He wouldn’t want anything to do with his cake but he came around and really enjoyed it the day after.
And of course, his really cute birthday outfit which a few people were asking me where I got it from after posting his birthday pictures on facebook. I was looking on Etsy for anything brown/blue polka dots when I came across this perfect onesie and party hat outfit! Debbie of PinkSevenDesigns sent me a set and it perfectly matched the Small Fry’s birthday cake! The birthday hat is made of fabric and you can have it personalized with a fabric letter or number which I opted out of. It was topped with a chocolate brown pom pom that made it extra cute! The onesie has a necktie iron-on applique that is just so darn cute as well! This outfit set is truly a steal for just $20.99 because I’ve actualy seen a tie onesie at Nordstrom for $34! So I highly recommend you check out Debbie’s Etsy Shop because she also sells other items that are great photo props including a personalized pumpkin that is perfect for this halloween!
And finally, we were on to the gift opening, which he amazingly enjoyed. He has been really enjoying all of the wonderful toys he received since his birthday, but during the opening process, he was particularly fond of the Wheely Bug that we got him! :)
Like I said before, The Small Fry’s first birthday is a big milestone not just for him but also for me and Michael so aside from his big birthday party next week (which I’m very excited about), we are also going to celebrate with a family getaway on the beach — in HAWAII!

I LOVE THE PHOTOS!!! He’s too stinkin’ cute! And the most amazing thing about your getting him a wheely bug? My sister’s bf (who also happens to be my daughter’s Ninong) got her a ladybug one! LOL. Now they have matching wheelies! How cute is that?!
