Lead In Baby Food?
I know that I’m a little behind in posting this but for those who didn’t know, there had been a lot of online buzz last week about lead found in baby food, juices and other canned food items.
It turns out the Environmental Law Foundation (ELF), a California-based nonprofit that works to enforce environmental laws, has filed legal notices in California alleging its tests revealed illegal levels of lead in foods marketed for babies and children. Here’s the list of foods the ELF claims failed their tests. Popular baby food brands like Beech Nut and Gerber made the list.
I am really appalled that they are finding lead in baby food. As we all know, lead has been linked to cancers, and many other things. I’m just glad that I never bought any of the Gerber jarred food for the Small Fry.
Now, will this affect the foods and drinks you purchase for your family?

That list is ridiculous! We bought a lot of that stuff with our first, thankfully he’s mostly on adult food now. I had planned to make all the food for my second that’s coming in September…keeping this list in mind will hopefully push me to follow through on my plans!
